Choose Life in Every Bite

You are a body, a mind, and a spirit, and all three are connected. Why lasting change means choosing life in every bite, every step, and every word.

I had a thought leaving the gym one morning that I haven't been able to shake since. We are not just a body. We are a body, a mind, and a spirit, three parts, all connected. And if you only ever work on one of them, the change never lasts.

Gym culture is great at the body. We train it, feed it, want it to look good. And that's not wrong, the body is a gift and it deserves respect. But here's the truth: the body will fail one day. It's the mind and the spirit that drive it. When you make your spirit healthier and your mind healthier, your body follows, because the body responds to a healthy mind and the mind responds to a healthy spirit. That's the order: spirit, then mind, then body.

What "choose life" actually means

It sounds big, but it lives in the small stuff.

Every bite you take has a purpose behind it. So does every step, and every word you speak. You're either choosing something that moves you toward the life you want, or away from it. Not perfectly. Nobody's perfect. But on purpose.

Choosing life in a bite doesn't mean a flawless diet. It means asking, even half the time, "is this fueling me or numbing me?" and being honest about the answer. Choosing life in a step means moving the body you have today, not the one you're waiting to have. Choosing life in a word means talking to yourself like someone you're rooting for, not someone you're disgusted by.

Small, on purpose, repeated

This is not a one-time decision. It's a thousand small ones. And the beautiful part is you get a fresh chance at the very next bite, the very next step, the very next word. You don't have to wait for Monday. You don't have to wait until you feel motivated. You just have to choose life in the next small thing in front of you.

You are loved, you have value, and you matter. Now go choose life in the next bite.
